Description
Exhibit showcases books, posters, furniture and other objects acquired since Henry Urbach joined the museum staff.

This unorthodox exhibition showcases 246-plus objects acquired by SFMOMA's Architecture and Design Department since curator Henry Urbach joined the staff in September 2006. Architectural drawings and models, industrial-design objects, books, posters, photographs, and furniture will be displayed on low platforms and organized by acquisition date. With more than 26,000 works of art in its holdings, SFMOMA can only show a fraction of its permanent collection at a time. This is a rare opportunity to see each and every piece the museum has collected in a given department over a two-year period. The exhibition also illuminates the accessions process, revealing how decisions are made about developing the collection. 246 and Counting will be temporarily closed September 08 through 17 as new works proposed for acquisition are installed.
