Description
Beryl Landau, a New York native who has been a San Francisco painter for over forty years, calls her work "symbolic landscape". Her paintings depict geographical places but evoke inner feelings. Each landscape draws the viewer into a particular space and mood. Landau's clear colors range from high contrasts to subtle gradations. She is well known for her evocative and unique cityscapes of San Francisco. Her cool palette of blues and pinks and her distinctive, almost aerial, point of view captures the changing light and topography of San Francisco with a fusion of breathtaking nuance and assurance.

Ms. Landau was educated at the University of California at Berkeley, the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Art Institute where she received her MFA in 1966. She has been widely exhibited and collected throughout California and the United States.
