"The Octopus Project's set was a preview of how they'll light up the California desert: sci-fi-flick synthesizer squeals, power-riff guitars, hellbent drumming. In one song, Yvonne Lambert coaxed playful squiggles and dying sighs from the antennae-li... More

The Advantage @ BOTH, 1/14
Nintendo for the New Millennium
By Roger Thomasson (01/06/2006)

" For those of us in our middling to late 20's, there's much to cherish about that decade situated squarely between 1979 and 1990. We know this, of, course, because we were there and were young enough and silly enough to consume every last bit of hairspray, Garbage Pail Kids, New Wave, and MTV that popular culture thought to toss our way. I mean, how can we hate the stuff we spent all our Christmas money on? Thank god, then, for the 80s revival of the last 5 years. Not only has it allowed us a sentimental feeling towards what once seemed to be the armpit of all decades but it also spiked a demand for Members Only gear. "

The Fucking Champs + Trans Am = The Fucking Am
New Year's Eve at the BOTH
By sidra durst (12/23/2005)

" The Fucking Champs play prog-metal for indie rockers. The band, originally called C4AM95, formed in the Bay Area in 1995 and is comprised of just three members: guitarists Josh Smith (who has since left the band) and Tim Greene and drummer Tim Soete. Their music often gets misclassified as heavy metal -- it's actually much closer to instrumental math rock. "

The American Analog Set
@ BOTH, 10/29 & 10/30
By Malcolm Maclachlan (10/24/2005)

" During American Analog Set's last trip to the Bottom on the Hill three years ago, an acquaintance in the audience nearby whispered, "What are these guys so depressed about? They're all like 21-years old." "
