About PacRep presents Peter and the Starcatcher

PacRep Theatre is proud to present the 5-time Tony-award winning family-friendly adventure story, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, at the Golden Bough Theatre, June 15 – July 16. This production will be Directed and Choreographed by PacRep Alumni John Farmanesh-Bocca, Founding Artistic Director of Not Man Apart – Physical Theatre Ensemble (2005-2015) and Shakespeare Santa Monica (2003–2014).

Based on the best-selling novels, this Tony-award-winning play (with music) is a rollicking, tuneful "prequel" to the beloved story of Peter Pan. Starcatcher-in-training Molly (Bri Slama) and a nameless orphan boy (Aaron Kitchen) embark on an epic sea quest, cross swords with a motley pirate crew led by the fearfully funny Black Stache (John Newkirk), and take us on a rollicking and inspiring adventure to discover their destinies in the Neverland you never knew. Patrons with families take note: PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is one of those rare Broadway shows that captures the Disney genius of being both hilarious for adults, as well as a delight for children (the management suggests 8 years old and up).

Featuring a dozen actors portraying more than 100 unforgettable characters, Peter and the Starcatcher uses ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination to bring the story to life. The cast of Peter and the Starcatcher will be led by long-time Pacific Repertory Theatre regulars -- John Newkirk as Pirate Leader Black Stache, and Equity actor Michael Jacobs and Guest Artist Bob Coulter, appearing in dozens of roles! Also, featured in the ensemble are local favorites Bri Slama (Molly), Richard Boynton (Alf), James Brady (Lord Asher), Jared Hussey (Smee), Skip Kadish (Prentiss), Patrick McEvoy (Captain Scott), Scott McQuiston (Brumbrake/Teacher), Stephen Poletti (Ted), and Aaron Kitchen as the mysterious orphan boy who refuses to grow up.

Director & Choreographer John Farmanesh-Bocca began his theatrical life with PacRep in the early 1990's, appearing in dozens of productions including Romeo & Juliet, The Full Monty, A Wonderful Life and Fully Committed, before moving to directing and producing here on the Monterey Peninsula, and beyond. PacRep directing credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Miss Witherspoon and Measure for Measure. After leaving the Peninsula, John founded and served as Artistic Director for two celebrated theatre companies, Not Man Apart – Physical Theatre Ensemble (2005-2015) and Shakespeare Santa Monica (2003–2014). Not Man Apart was named by Backstage Magazine as one of the 13 most innovative physical theatre companies in the world. John is a Los Angeles Critics Circle and Ovation Award Nominee. He attended NYU, was a Directing Fellow at The Juilliard School (03-05), and was recently awarded Best Director and Best Actor for the short film I DID NOT FORGET YOU.
