About The Nutcracker

Dance Kids Presents The Nutcracker (Night One)
Presented by Dance Kids of Monterey County

Set in the 1930's, Dance Kids brings the historic spirit of the Monterey Peninsula and the historic Hotel Del Monte, to the festive holiday tradition.

It is Christmas Eve and 'Duke' Sam Morse, entrepreneur extraordinaire, is hosting a 'Victorian fancy dress' Christmas party. Maids are preparing for the festivities, gifts are under the tree and guests arrive in costumed elegance. Mr. Morse hosts and receives his guests from Germany, Doctor and Frau Stahlbaum with Clara, Fritz and their Uncle Drosselmeyer. The flamboyant artist and Spanish surrealist painter, Salvador Dali, is a guest of honor.

Join Dance Kids of Monterey County in the world premiere of the Monterey Peninsula's very own Nutcracker: A Monterey Peninsula Tradition. Set to Tchaikovsky's beloved score, Nutcracker: A Monterey Peninsula Tradition, entwines the history of our beloved Peninsula with the classical Nutcracker.

For twenty three years Dance Kids has told the story of Clara and her Nutcracker to thousands of audience members in the Peninsula. Join them in celebrating the talented cast of Monterey Peninsula dancers and actors with guest artists, Matthew Dibble, Twyla Tharp Company, Gary Franco, world champion theatrical ballroom dancer, our own Sugar Plum Fairy, Alexandra Huffman and cameo appearance by Mr. Dali, Keith Decker. Stephen Moorer, founder of the Peninsula's own Pacific Repertory Theatre will reprise his role as the rollicking, Mother Ginger.

Happy Holidays!
