| About Forest Theater Guild As the ancient Greeks and Romans knew, there is something spectacular about watching a theatrical production outdoors. At the Outdoor Forest Theater in Carmel, audiences can treat themselves to the unique experience of taking in an exciting play in the company of ocean breezes and towering trees. Founded in 1910, the Forest Theater is the oldest outdoor theater this side of the Rockies. Beginning with the production of David for an audience of 1000 people, this beautiful outdoor venue has since welcomed performances of some of the most known and well loved plays and musicals, including My Fair Lady, Evita and Les Miserables. This year's stellar community performances will be focused on our production of "Bandito", with a premiere performance of this newly written musical presentation by Luis Valdez of "Zoot Suit" and featuring some of the most talented youth from our local communities. We will host a GALA DINNER & RECEPTION honoring Mr. Luis Valdez and the cast of the BANDIDO on June 13th is a special event at 6pm with dinner from Il Fornaio of Carmel and Georis Wines of Carmel Valley. Ticket sre $35.00 per person and including the live production that night. Special events and parties will be held this year in anticipation of the 100th year celebration in 2010. The Forest Theater is a much treasured outdoor theatre, with a focus on local community productions and events. The 2009 season will feature a special "Hometown Films in the Forest Theatre" Series with special weeks of themed films and genres.
