About Gallery 16 (Sixteen)

Gallery 16 was founded in 1995 and conceived of as a new model in contemporary arts support. Our objective was to show contemporary work in all media done by today's most exciting emerging and mid-career artists. Gallery 16 and Urban Digital Color, Inc represent a new model for arts funding. The opening of Gallery 16 marks a new development in the marriage between buisness, technology, and the arts. It is a marriage in which a gallery devoted to showing progressive visual art could become an intregal part of a high tech business plan without sacrificing the integrity of the work it shows. This trust shows the faith buisnesses can and should have in the value of arts support, and the inspiring results from such collaborations.

Hatch Show Print: A Tonic for the Information Age

" In a design-heavy city like San Francisco, where any chance to convey information turns into a chance to play artist, sometimes you just want a little breathing room. Sometimes you just want the facts: who is going to play where and when. Gallery 16 brings a bit of much-needed simplicity to the scene with an exhibition of posters from Nashville based Hatch Show Print, the self-proclaimed "Great American Poster Shop." The posters — hand-set, hand-inked, and hand-pressed — are steeped in nostalgia and American history, and their rhythmic type advertises everything from country legends like Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash to coolkid rockers...
