Herb Alpert and Lani Hall
About Herb Alpert and Lani Hall
If Mad Men wanted to show a little extra attention to detail, they'd have a Herb Alpert poster up somewhere in the offices of Sterling Cooper Draper Price. In 1964 and 1965, there were few people cooler than trumpeter and bandleader Alpert - and not just because he had a naked girl covered in white goo on the cover of his most famous album, Whipped Cream and Other Delights (okay, the girl was a big part of it, but still). Besides being an American music icon, Alpert is a true Renaissance man - painting, sculpting and co-founding A&M Records, in addition to his composition and performance. For almost 40 years, he's been married to singer Lani Hall, who performs with him at this show. - Steve Palopoli sanjose.com
