| Description Singer-songwriter and guitarist, Keb' Mo’s music is a living link to the Delta blues that traveled up the Mississippi River and across America. This three-time Grammy®, winner’s distinctive sound embraces multiple eras and genres: blues, pop, rock, folk and jazz. His gritty country blues conveys the human experience. His last visit to Sunset Center generated a sold-out house.
Keb’ Mo’, born Kevin Moore, is a latter-day blues master who absorbed the music’s roots directly from the source, jamming with Albert Collins and Big Joe Turner. After rambling around the music world for two decades he made a powerful impression with his eponymous 1994 debut on Epic. His second and third albums, 1996’s Just Like You and 1998’s Slow Down, each won a Grammy® Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. He returned with another dose of Delta soul with 2004’s Keep It Simple, which earned Keb’ Mo’ a third Grammy. Solomon Burke gave up his first career as a preacher to help pioneer the sound of soul music in the early 1960s. Resurgent since his 2002 masterpiece Don’t Give Up On Me won a Grammy® Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album, last year Burke delivered Like A Fire – another classic, featuring songs written specifically for him by Ben Harper, Keb' Mo' and Eric Clapton. All in all, this blistering bash promises to be the major blues event of 2009. "Keb' Mo' is a blues artist whose witty tunes will take some of those blues away." – NPR Music Artist website: http://www.kebmo.net |
