Description

Toro Park is taken over by pipe bands, caber toss throwers, Irish step dancers and kilts. This annual event is preceded by a Celtic Week celebration.

The Monterey Scottish Games & Celtic Festival is celebrating its 42nd Anniversary in 2009 during the 3rd Annual event-filled Monterey County Celtic Week. This week-long Celtic celebration will be held from the last week of July thru August 1st with a variety of special activities, including the 5th Annual Monterey Bay School of Piping and Drumming that brings world renowned bagpipe teachers from Scotland. There will be a special Celtic Concert featuring the bagpipe instructors from Scotland, Irish dancers, and other Celtic performers.

Monterey County Celtic Week will culminate with the 42nd Annual Monterey Scottish Games and Celtic Festival at Monterey County Toro Park on Saturday, August 1st & Sunday, August 2nd 2009. This lively weekend Festival offers fun for the entire family. It features a wide array of Scottish and Irish musicians, Scottish and Highland dancers, Irish step dancers, pipe band competitions, a special Pipe Band Festival on Sunday, British food and crafts, thrilling Scottish athletic competitions including the famous Caber Toss and much, much more. Proceeds of the festival benefit various local charities.
