Diana Son (Stop Kiss, “ Law & Order: Criminal Intent”) raises challenging questions about parenting, racial identity, and community in this Off-Broadway hit . When a young family moves into a predominantly black neighborhood undergoing gentrification, a Korean-American architect, her African American husband, and their new baby, are welcomed to their home by a rock thrown through the front window. The hole it creates opens the house up to a host of unexpected problems as they discover a world in which tradition, social order, and economic and sexual boundaries are constantly in flux. Called “ an engrossing, unpredictable, and believable portrait” by Newsday , SATELLITES finds humor and fulfillment in the most unexpected places. Kent Nicholson, who directed Aurora Theatre Company’s acclaimed production of Small Tragedy, helms this incendiary piece.
