| Description The Center for Asian America Media presents the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (SFIAAFF) every March. The SFIAAFF is the nation’s largest showcase for new Asian American and Asian films, annually presenting approximately 120 works in San Francisco, Berkeley and San Jose. Since 1982, the SFIAAFF has been an important launching point for Asian American independent filmmakers as well as a vital source for new Asian cinema.
More about the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival: “[The] place where aspiring auteurs get made and dreams become reality…the Cannes Film Festival of the Asian American festival circuit.” -Brian Hu, Asia Pacific Arts “I can truly say this is one of the finest festivals around. The emphasis on depth, breadth, and beauty in the selection…and the humanity of this crisp city and its swelling consciousness made me wish to return indefinitely.” -Jacqueline Kim, Filmmaker and Actor “…I was blown away…[the] line to get in felt more like a concert venue than a multiplex.” -Martin Wong, Giant Robot Kick off the Festival in style with a screening of acclaimed director Wayne Wang's latest film, A Thousand Years of Good Prayers at Castro Theatre, followed by a star-studded Gala Reception at the opulent Asian Art Museum.
