Description
THE BRUNETTES
Faboo New Zealand boy/girl band that sounds like Lou
Reed playing with the Shangri-Las, taking a break from
tours with Beirut and Broken Social Scene to play an
intimate local show! "The Brunettes have staked a
major claim on U.S. hearts with their ridiculously
catchy hooks, Mansfield’s eyelash-batting coyness
and Bree’s droll delivery. But Mars Love Venus
displays more than a Pipettes-style ’50s homage.
Numbers like the vibraphone-driven 'No Regrets' nudge
against Georgia Hubley’s moodier numbers for Yo La
Tengo." -- Harp

SYBRIS
Chicago quartet celebrates their new release on
Absolutely Kosher Records. "Angela Mullenhour is a
deadringer for Jenny Lewis, although there's hints of
Karen O and Bjork too. What keeps the band from being
a clone is their sonic guitar and drums, which know
when to be big and when to be quiet." -- AllMusic
"'Oh Man!' is of a piece with Sybris's The Best Day in
History Ever, from the blocky yet aerodynamic drums to
the nervously chiming guitar lead. This is a good
thing, since the band's anthemic indie rock was
refreshing precisely for its unabashed classicism."

UNWED SAILOR
Unwed Sailor have been innovators in instrumental rock
since their debut release in 1998. Their signature
sound is based around Ford's leading bass melodies,
melodic string keyboard arrangements, intricate groove
oriented rhythms, and sparkling chime like guitars.
Unwed Sailor are as busy as ever. At the end of
November 2007, the band finished recording and mixing
of Little Wars, their 4th full-length. "Melodic
instrumental post-rock with little of the flashily
technical but emotionally empty time signature shifts
and fleet-fingered soloing of math rock, or the
fondness for epic structures and high-decibel
explosions of acts like Mono or Godspeed You Black
Emperor!"
