Description
As a child in Chongquing, China, Yundi Li was so fascinated by a man playing an accordion in a shopping center that he refused to leave the mall. By age seven, he had mastered the accordion and begged his parents for piano lessons, soon winning an impressive list of competitions, scholarships and honors. He caught the world’s ear when he won the Stravinsky Competition in the US at age 13, followed by the Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2000 at 18. A long way from China and the accordion, Yundi Li is among the most exciting artists of his generation.
