Cheryl Watts Pottery Gallery Celebrates 25th Featuring 'The Wild Whimsical World of Katie Crawford

In celebration of Cheryl Watts 25th Anniversary of her pottery and art gallery, she is featuring the Opening of "The Wild Whimsical World of Katie Crawford".

Katie's art is inspired by the belief that Art's power is its ability to make others see. It is this ability to reveal, b out the food and the bad, that gives art the power to influence society. I believe that if art is to have a positive influence of society it can not merely reflect the problems, it must offer solutions as well. "My work focuses of offering an antidote for the angst, stress and lack of satisfaction that seems to plaque our contemporary society. As children we were encouraged and expected to view the world with whimsy, imagination and joy. However "growing up" seems to mean pushing those perspectives to the background and only glimpsing them through a cluttered veil of stresses dubbing "reality." So I bring imagination and joy to the foreground where it can be viewed unobstructed. This fantastical perspective is deepened with engaging characters, complex detail and themes reflecting on time, memory, and transformation. Whether I am working with mixed media techniques or only watercolor, each piece offers a moment where the wisdom of adulthood and the clarity of childhood intersect. I offer a world where imagination and whimsy obscure the angst, allowing us to let go of the unimportant and once again feel the joy the comes from a sense of satisfaction in life.

The Cheryl Watts Gallery will be celebrating their 25th anniversary with art and live music from Lark Simmons, local siren. Along with the live entertainment there will food and libations served and this a free event. All are welcome!
