ALWAYS THE FIRST WEEKEND IN OCTOBER!
On the weekend of October 3 & 4 2015, Lugano Swiss Bistro and Monterey County Fairgrounds are presenting “The Monterey Bay Oktoberfest”. As delivered in the past, this traditional German style outdoor festival promises to be a rousing beer garden party with thousands of people, complete with all the foamy fun and frivolity that millions of beer lovers across the world have come to enjoy. The overwhelming success and growth of the Monterey Bay Oktoberfest each year since 2010 made it necessary for founder of the Monterey Oktoberfest and Owner of Lugano Swiss Bistro, Andre Lengacher, to find a bigger venue to stage this authentic Bavarian fun festival. Monterey Fairgrounds was chosen because it can accommodate the thousands of people who attend and is now the home court for this annual German traditional festival that includes plenty of kegs of Spaten and HB beer to be shipped from Germany just for this event.
EVENTS: Many new fun-filled activities like the Beer Stein Holding Contest, as well as bounce houses for the kids, in addition to the Opening Parade lead by Ms. Oktoberfest and the St. Pauli Girls. See website at www.montereybayoktoberfest.com Event Promoter, Chef Andre Lengacher, Owner of Lugano Swiss Bistro, says: “To me, Oktoberfest is a great time of camaraderie, beer, dancing, Lederhosen, fun for the whole family...it’s just fun.” Revelers will listen and dance with two great bands with a wide array of musical talents.
FOOD & VENDORS: Delicious mouth-watering Oktoberfest food will be on the menu: Bratwurst, Calamari, BBQ Chicken & Tri Tip local Artichokes, German Pretzels, Apple Strudel and more.
Browse through the fairgrounds to enjoy select arts and crafts vendors and, of course, there is the beer...Ahh, is there anything better than a great big stein of Munich Oktoberfest brew? New this year a full bar Monterey Bay Oktoberfest, as with all Oktoberfests around the world is about quaffing great beer, partying with wonderful, enthusiastic members of the community and celebrating life, German style.
MS. OKTOBERFEST CONTEST: Bernadette Carter, a local German Fraulein won Ms. Oktoberfest 2015 and will lead the German Parade with The St. Pauli Girls through the fairgrounds, along with previous winners of Ms. Oktoberfest and hopeful participants for the contest dressed in traditional dirndl. On Sunday, a pageant to crown Miss Oktoberfest and Jr. Miss Oktoberfest 2016 will take place and all local women are encouraged to participate wearing decorative dirndl.
OPENING CEREMONIES: In keeping with the tradition in Germany, a city official will break open the first keg of beer on Saturday and on Sunday At 2pm following the Parade
BENEFICIARIES OF OKTOBERFEST: The Monterey Bay Oktoberfest is committed both to having fun and to giving back to local communities. By supporting Oktoberfest, you will also help local services.
